Feel free to post suggestions here. They will be considered and some may be implemented.

One beta tester suggested adding a 'mixed' category to both the 'Site Format' and 'Niche' drop-down menus.

Although adding extra fields to the menus would be very easy, getting the rest of the software - especially the auto-join functions - to work with the new settings would not be so easy, and there are other concerns as well.

I would recommend using 'general' in place of 'mixed' in the Niche menu.

I created the Niche menu to be somewhat vague, because if too many options are presented and people set their sites to accept auto-joins only from matching niches, then the pool of available trades for any one niche will be much smaller than it would with the existing method. So for this reason, I think it makes more sense to lump things like general and mixed together, and also keep some other niches relatively vague instead of adding many more specific niches at this time.

Likewise, if your site is hybrid of text and thumbs, or of TGP and MGP galleries, then it probably makes sense to select whichever type of site you most prefer to trade with.

The category list is a tricky issue that will likely have to evolve over time based on the mix of sites using this script.

In my case, with one exception, my TGPs are all fetish wear specific so Fetish is the most appropriate category. However, the majority of other fetish niche TGPs would not be a compatible match with mine.

The non-fetish TGP I have is a babe/pornstar TGP. In that case it would be nice to be able to specify two categories, Babes and Pornstars.

Thanks for the input Toby. I agree with your take on the matter.

I have only one fetish site (a toplist), however it did not take me long to figure out that, for instance, softcore stocking fetish sites don't make appropriate trades for extreme latex/bondage fetish sites.

For situations such as this, one possible solution would be for a webmaster to create two master/slave groups:
    1. One group for niches which they want to closely control the trades of and are unlikely to give out trusted network status very frequently, or to very many webmasters.
    2. Another master/slave group for sites which are more compatible with a broad range of trades.

In this way, they could add trusted networks as appropriate for each group, maintain tight control over very niche-specific and micro-niche sites in the first group, and also enjoy a wide range of possible trade partners with the more general sites of the second group.

Splitting up one's sites into separate groups like this would prevent sites from one group sharing blacklist info with sites from the second group. I might be able to make a plug-in of some type to periodically sync blacklists between two groups, for situations such as that.

I think it would be useful to be able to do a URL like http://www.site.com/draupnir_out.php?trade=site2.com&url=http://www.site2.com/non/index/page.html, so you can credit a trade with a hit out and send the hit to a content page instead of just the URL associated with the trade in the script, so if you trade gallery traffic with other sites like I do, you can track outgoing hits. It would also be nice if there was a tag feature like Arrow Trader has, so you could pass tag=whatever in a URL and see how many hits went to that link specifically.

thanks w33t. I have edited the code to allow sending to a specific landing page of a trade, as you've mentioned. that feature will be active upon the next release.

I'll look into the tag code feature.

Suggestion: Hourly Force for set time period.

When I add a new trade I usually want to set an hourly force that expires in 24 or 48 hours. As it stands now there's no way to set a fixed time limit on an hourly force.

I'll definitely look into that. I don't think it should be too difficult to implement, so it will probably be added soon.

    This a simple one...

In the iFrame within the header of the admin, where it says "Please make suggestions in the forum!", link the word forum to the forum. :-)

Thanks Toby, that's a good idea, it is now linked.

You may need to refresh/reload the iframe in the header in order to to see it, apparently some browsers were caching the iframe contents. I've put a nocache meta tag on the iframe now so that shouldn't be a problem.

I just started to use the script on a couple of my sites and so far I missed 2 things:
    - a bulk add function for blacklists (which is always handy when you have a huge blacklist)
    - an extra column in the script's main admin page with the forces for each trade, and the total of all forces at the bottom of that column.

xxxtreme, those are some great ideas, thank you. I'll definitely incorporate some form of those suggestions into an update; if not the next update, then soon.

Forces are listed in the OUT column with a small f: under the hits OUT. I think adding a total force in the Trade Total row is a great idea. You would like an entirely separate column for forces as well?

If you are feeling adventurous, there is a way that you can copy/paste your existing blacklist data into the blacklist files.

*if you do this, you must do it exactly as explained below*

    • Locate your blacklist directory in FTP. It is called "draupnir_blacklists/"
    • You will find 5 blacklist files named blacklist_domain.txt, blacklist_ip.txt, etc.
    • Open the appropriate blacklist.
    • Paste each blacklist item, one item per line, into the blacklist_______.txt file.
    • There must be no spaces before or after each item
    • At the last letter of the very last item, make sure that you press enter so that the cursor is on a blank line.

    Save the file.

Open up your blacklist menu in the admin, and verify that it has added the blacklist items.

I'll add a bulk import feature in an update.

LOL, I wasn't able to see the small f indicating the force for a given trade, because I hadn't added any forces yet. When I posted it here, I had just noticed that there was no column for the forces, and thought that there was no visible mention of it in the stats admin

As to the solution for you proposed for the blacklists, that worked like a charm. I copied and pasted everything in the blacklist files of my master copy, then uploaded them with my FTP, and finally synchronized with the slave copies. It only took a couple of minutes ;)

    Suggestion

toplist shoted by the hits i own

eg to show first the site that i own traffic and not the sites with more clicks or most in

i that way will be more fair for small trades who are at the bottom of the toplist to get some high prod clicks from the toplists

ace, if you switch the toplist sorting to 'qual' it will have much the same result as a 'hits owed' feature. Under the 'qual' setting, small trades which have high qual (i.e. should have hits sent to them) will temporarily appear at or near the top of the list until they get some clicks, causing their qual to drop again.

Has there been any progress on adding link tags? It'd still be awfully handy to have that.

    Hi w33t,
No, there has not been. It is on the agenda for the next update; I am not sure when the next update will be released, however it is still planned.

I have been devoting my efforts to a mainstream (not website) endeavor recently, and as such this project has been on the back burner for the time being. It is by no means being abandoned.

When it is updated, I will add the link tags, as well as a few other features.

Thanks for your interest, and your patience. I hope the script is performing well for you.

Got any kind of ETA on the next update?

Honestly w33t, I have no idea. Adding the feature would probably be fairly simple and is likely something I could churn out in an hour or an afternoon at most... testing it to make sure that it's reliable and isn't going to do something unexpected if one adds a funky character string could take much longer. If I restrict the acceptable tag characters to only [A-Z a-z 0-9] I suppose it shouldn't be too risky.

I'll see what I can do.

Something I just thought of that would be handy to have, and shouldn't be very difficult to implement, would be history logs for daily trade totals and overall site totals.

This data would be useful when checking to see how a change to the site has effected prod, total traffic, etc.

Great idea Toby, thanks! I have no idea why I didn't include that to begin with :-)

Just adding this as a reminder to myself:
add admin override for f= in algorithm adjustments

    Another reminder to self:
look into problem with re-adding some trades that were previously deleted, perhaps incorporate a routine to check for any existing files if trade is not currently in tradelist and delete them if needed before proceeding with new add.
